If you are a fan of Jake's Rolex World, you know I have covered a great deal of Rolex Aviation history, and in 2011 I am going to be publishing some mind-boggling Rolex Aviation stories that nobody knows about–not even Rolex. And when I say, mind-boggling, I mean MIND-BOGGLING!!!!!
As a matter of fact, in the next month or so, I will be publishing a previously undocumented piece of Rolex aviation history that is so profound, people will be talking about it for decades to come.
How profound you ask!?! It is right up there with the Rolex Moon watches I discovered and first documented from the NASA archives, or as profound as the first photos I found that documented Jacques-Yves Cousteau wearing his prototype Rolex Submariner in 1953 when he filmed his seminal Academy Award winning documentary named The Silent World.
I will give you only a hint. It has to do with SuperSonic Flight, as well as the TRUE and forgotten and undocumented history of the Rolex GMT Master. That's right, I said "The True and forgotten and undocumented history of the Rolex GMT Master. What am I talking about?
I am talking about men wearing their GMT Master watches as real tool watches, pushing the absolute envelope of the unknown, and you won't find this history on Rolex.com or in any Rolex magazine ads–at least not yet ;-) This story is right out of the Rolex X-Files.
I thought I would share some fascinating images in this post with you that cover the Rolex Concorde ads just as an elixir...So fasten your seat-belt and put your tray-tables in the upright position...we are going on a wild, wild Rolex history ride...
1969 Rolex Flying The Concorde Tomorrow
Rolex Of Canada Ad
All Six Supersonic Big Birds
Parked At London's Heathrow Airport
This has got to be one of the coolest vintage Rolex Ads I have ever seen. I remember when I was a kid, flying on the Concorde was a really, really big deal. Jetset Cool!!!!
The Concorde was a Supersonic airplane that could cruise at Mach 2 which is faster than a speeding bullet. When British Airways started using Concorde's their slogan was "Arrive before you leave."
